Review:
What a great debut novel from Laura Rossi!!

As soon as I heard what the plot line was going to be about, I knew that it was going to be a book that I had to pick up! I have read very few books about racing in the past, and it is because of this, that I became so intrigued and captivated by the storyline.

When Isabella starts working for a top racing company there are bound to be sparks. What she didn't expect was that the sparks wouldn't come from a car, but instead from the companies top racer driver, Christopher.

Isabella and Christopher's chemistry is undeniable. You can tell that they feel things for each other from the very beginning. As soon as they locked eyes and spoke for the first time, you could feel the emotions, tensions and need.

Isabella "needs" Christopher like no other, however, knows that she should keep her private life separate from her job. Further, Isabella knows that she shouldn't be involved with the companies leading racer.

Christopher knows that he should stay away from Isabella. Things can only end in complications, broken hearts or disaster. Despite this, he is drawn to Isabella for her disregard of fame and money. She is not like the typical girls he meets, and he finds her intriguing like no one has ever been.

Do they end up together?? Do they start a relationship?? I guess you'll have to pick up the book in order to find out!!

There were some editing issues within the novel, however, that  is to be expected with a debut author. In general, these issues do not take away from the reading experience. Some readers may not even pick up on some of the mistakes and therefore, this did not significantly alter my rating or enjoyment of the novel.

The only reason this isn't a five star read for me was because of the hard time I had deciphering who was speaking during each scene and in every moment. This could be partially due to the editing, however, if there were subtitles added in as to who was speaking in each chapter, it would have definitely been a five star read.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and I can't wait to go pick up and read the second in the series.

4/5 Stars!

Synopsis:
“I know why you are here” he said, his voice steady, in control as always.

Isabella looked back at him, her head tilted to the side, daring him to go on “You want to know what’s going to happen next”
“And what is going to happen next, Christopher?” she looked straight at him, right into his deep green eyes.
They were so close.
Again, she thought, I am letting him get close again.

Determined to put everything behind her, Isabella tries to regain control and some of her 'long gone' good sense.
How could she have fallen for it? The relationship was doomed from the beginning, a regular girl like her dating a famous, race driver- not to mention ladies' man- like Christopher.
While a part of her misses him, Isabella knows she must stay away.
But can Christopher stay away from her?

Review:
An incredible follow up to book 1: Counterpoints!!

This is my second book by this new author, and all I have to say, is that I loved this book even more than the first!!

This novel follows the first book and the relationship between Isabella and Christopher. I loved that the relationship between these two appeared stronger than it was in book 1. These characters have the emotional connection as well as romantic and sexual connection. In summary, they have it all. You could describe them as the perfect book couple! Throughout book 1, as well as this book 2, you can't help but root for them and hope that they end up together.

There are so many twists and turns in this novel, including one major twist that I am still dying over!! Included in the romance is the suspense and mystery. Whilst reading, you'll find yourself with a beating heart and a racing pulse. It is intense!!!

I found the switching and moving from one character to the next way clearer than it was in the first book. I had no problem figuring out who was speaking in each scene.

I highly enjoyed this novel, and can't wait to read book 3! I definitely recommend Laura Rossi to everyone!

4/5 Stars!

Author Interview:

1) For those who don't know you, would you mind telling us a bit about yourself?
I am a thirty-one year old italian mother of two fantastic kids. I live in Italy, but I have travelled around the world from the age of four with my crazy family.
I think I fit in the category "bookworm with a wild imagination".
The first book I have ever written was at the age of thirteen (in italian) and I have never wanted to do anything else but write.
As it happens, life took me elsewhere - I graduated in Psychology and Criminology in the UK and now I own a pharmacy with my partner (in crime!).
I'm restless, I love changes, I need surprises in my life.
I couldn't live without three things: my family, the sea and books!!!

2) What was the last book you read that you fell in love with?

Choosing one is so hard - I read too much- but I think the last book that really hit me hard was The Fault in Our Stars. It literally made me smile, laugh and cry. I remember sobbing towards the last few chapters. Very emotional and well written.
My all time favourite is and will always be Wuthering Heights. No matter how many times I read it.

3) When you're not writing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my kids, swimming and taking long walks by the beach. I also have a passion for home interior design.

4) In your opinion, what makes a great story?
I think a great story must be well balanced. There needs to be the right amount of character depth but also it has to have a good pace. The reader needs to have enough space to imagine and wonder. Twists and surprises are a must.

5) When did you first realize you wanted to become an author?
I realized I wanted to be a writer in my teens, when I started reading classics and contemporary books (mainly Urban fantasy). Some books moved me so much, I wanted to be able to do the same thing with my words some day. I am trying :)

6) What was your inspiration behind Counterpoints?
Two things inspired me to write this story: my love for auto racing and race drivers (the male character Christopher had to be a tough, hot race driver, he just had to be) and the chemistry between two people, that are apparently opposites but somehow make it work.
Differences don't stop them from falling in love, they draw them even closer, they become stronger. Their personalities somehow don't clash, they move simultanously and in harmony, without overstepping the other, just like what happens in music, just like counterpoints!

7) If Counterpoints were turned into a movie, which actors/actresses do you picture as the lead roles?
I thought about this again and again. I actually imagined the story as a movie in my head, before putting it on paper.
I think Chris Pratt would make a great, sexy race driver Christopher Taylor, whereas Jennifer Lawrence would be great in the role of the female character Isabella. Isabella is smart, she's a hot cookie, good looking but apparently very ordinary.

8) What is your favourite quote from Counterpoints?
From Counterpoints book 1: “Are you ready?” he asked taking her hand.
“No” she said. Obviously.
When was she ever going to be ready to jump god knows how many feet, off a bridge, into the darkness, in the middle of nowhere in France?
Isabella laughed a little nervous.
“I promise you it will be amazing” he touched her full lips with the tip of his fingers and smiled to the side.
“I can’t do it, Christopher” she murmured and fidgeted a little. She heard another couple scream, as they made their way down into the void.
The lights that surrounded the bridge lit up during their fall and Isabella looked down and saw them hanging from the elastic rope. It was so deep. A boat was already in position, preparing to release them.
When Christopher had said ‘Let’s do something crazy’ on the boat, she should have known that he hadn’t been kidding. For a person like Isabella, something crazy meant eating pasta in the middle of the night, walking barefoot in the street. Not jumping off a bridge. That is suicidal.
Evidently, Christopher was into every extreme sport known to mankind.
“I got you, baby” he said wrapping his arms around her. “Trust me, okay? I won’t let you go”

From Counterpoints book 2:
“I shouldn’t be here” Isabella said, speaking her mind.
“I know” Christopher nodded slowly. “But you are here”
“I don’t know why” she looked to the side and saw him straighten up at the corner of her eye.
One minute she was trying to keep him away, the next one she was saying yes to seeing him secretly.
I miss him, Isabella bit her lip, feeling confused and restless.
And I am going crazy.
Christopher let go of the door handle, not so sure anymore that she would in the end get inside the car with him.
It was just ridiculous. Isabella had spent the last few days hiding from him and now she found herself incapable of saying no to Christopher- no to seeing him.
A part of me wants to break it off, but it’s hard to let go, she acknowledged.
“There is only one way to find out, Isabella. Come with me” he stretched his arm forward and hoped Isabella would place her hand into his.

9) Do you have another book in the works? If so, what is it about?
I am currently writing the third and last part of the Counterpoints series- which I'll release this summer. But I already have another story in my head, ready to be written down. Only this time it's going to be a paranormal/ urban fantasy book.

10) Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?
I just want to say thank you to everyone that showed support. It's hard out there, so I am genuinly moved when I see unexpected kindness from strangers. My first language isn't english, I am just a girl that loves books and loves writing and the love and support from other writers, bloggers and readers made me feel special. Thank you.
