Review:

The Rebel by Kelsey Clayton was a good read.

When I first heard about this novel, I had not heard of Kelsey Clayton before. She was a new to me author, one that I was excited to read after hearing of this synopsis.

When I first started reading The Rebel, I was highly engaged. I absolutely adored the forbidden relationship between Tessa and Asher. The way they met, and the way that they eventually figured out who the other person was, was an incredible addition to the story. I loved that there was a build up to the reveal of how they would reunite, as well as a bit of a backstory as to why Asher was in the position that he was.

I loved how protective, and possessive Asher was of Tessa. He was there for her in ways that she never thought she would ever need anyone. He wanted to take care of her, and be the one to finally love her in the right way, the way that she truly deserves.

I do feel as though some elements of this novel were rushed, and details were excluded that I feel would have added to the emotional depth and relationship of Asher and Tessa. After everything that she has gone through in her past, some moments felt too simply get too that emotional moment that would be expected, however, felt slightly misplaced, and ultimately lacking what it was trying to achieve.

I did enjoy this novel, and found it a good introduction to this new to me author. I am curious about reading other novels this author has written.
